Be Better Than Your Former Self

“There is nothing noble in being superior to others.  True nobility lies in being superior to your former self.”
- Indian proverb

Are you continuously improving?  Aim to beat your personal record every day.  Whether it has to do with your career or your health or your relationships, make your today better than your yesterday.

  1. Sanj says:

One way to ensure you are continuously improving is to have a daily journal. I find it is an easy way to track what improvements I have made, what lessons I’ve learned and what things I need to watch for on a daily basis. You’ll be surprised what happens when you write down what you’re going to do or what you’ve learned from the previous day.

  2. Stephen Shedletzky says:

Great point on journaling, Sanj. I find that I cannot write down a lie… and if I do write one down, it does not sit well. I immediately scratch it out, reflect, and prescribe the truth.

What about this thought? Set high benchmarks. Benchmark yourself against your idol. How can I be as good as Ghandi, Obama, or Roy Halladay? Life will be full of spectacular results and successes if you can live up to your high standard.
